GRM Join Simulia Alliance Interface Partner Programme
GRM Consulting Ltd are delighted to be accepted onto the Simulia Alliance Interface Partner Programme (AIP) as part of our ongoing developments of a coupled optimisation interface to Abaqus. The partnership will allow GRM to further improve the developments of the Abaqus coupling interface through direct partnership with Simulia. Scheduled for development are support of composite laminate optimisation and the creation of a direct interface within Abaqus/CAE.
T-systems Release MEDINA Mesher
T-systems have released MEDINA Mesher, a new tool providing a rapid, high end meshing solution to complement the workflow of many native pre-processors. For more information about MEDINA Mesher click here.
GRM Release MSC/MARC Coupling Interface
In February 2009, GRM release the MSC/MARC non-linear coupling optimisation interface to VR&D GENESIS. This is the third industry standard solver code to be coupled to GENESIS by GRM, following LS-DYNA and ABAQUS (see news below). For more information about non-linear coupling click here.

LS-DYNA Coupled Optimisation used to Optimise Roll Cage
Working in conjunction with MIRA ltd GRM Consulting have used there coupled optimisation techniques to develop a roll cage for MIRA. A page can be found in our Case Studies section detailing the optimisation carried out and the results.

GRM Consulting have developed a unique method for coupling 3rd party solver codes to VR&D GENESIS. LS-DYNA was the first (see news below) but now ABAQUS can be used in the same way. For more information click here.
GRM Announce LS-DYNA Optimisation Coupling
GRM Consulting have developed a unique method for coupling 3rd party solver codes to VR&D GENESIS. Currently only LS-DYNA is supported but other industry standard codes will follow.
Both linear and nonlinear LS-DYNA models can be optimised using Topology, Topometry, Topography, Sizing and Shape optimisation. The advantage of this method over more traditional methods of Optimising non-linear problems is the greatly reduced number of times the simulation needs to run.
To simplify the problem we have developed an interface allowing the problem to be defined using Design Studio.

GRM and VR&D Unveil Sheet Metal Topology Optimisation
Following extensive research by both GRM and VR&D we have been able to determine a method to allow topology optimisation to be carried out on sheet metal structures. This unique method is able to optimise multiple sheets of material, giving the user the option to add holes to the pressing.
